Smart and sustainable mobility is the future. How can we get involved?

The online webinar, Intelligent and Sustainable Mobility - Inspirations and Examples of Good Practice from the USA, was the first in a series of this year's webinars and lectures in which we took an active part. Our CEO Martin Jančo spoke as one of the speakers who talk about intelligent and sustainable mobility. Among other things, there were other very important topics such as electromobility and hydrogen mobility, which Slovakia presents at the Dubai Expo 2020.

Slovakia is well known in automotive industry, but we are also a large producer of railway wagons which makes Slovakia the largest producer of mobility per capita in the world.

We see changes in automotive as an opportunity to add even more value to this automotive segment than we have had so far. One of the biggest opportunities at the moment is the transfer of R&D activities of automotive suppliers such as  design and customer care to SK.  The main driving force  is the significantly shorter time needed to meet market needs caused by EV revolution. To realize  this potential, we must strengthen cooperation between universities, SAV and industry.

Another brand-new chapter of opportunities for Slovakia is in the field of IT. The requirements of the automotive industry will be mainly in the following technological areas: Automotive embedded, Verification engineering, secure SW development and of course AI. We are already doing all this in Slovakia, but it will be necessary to significantly expand to the whole Europe as it is missing resources in the field of IT.

To use IT know-how for mobility we need to create an open virtual space for mobility data. It can generate new business potential for Slovak SEM to provide more intelligent mobility in towns in SK.

Slovakia can be the mobility test lab for the whole of Europe. Thanks to the presence of Industry and IT presence, the topology of the country and the transport network, this would not be the first time.

A very good opportunity for technology startups and SMEs in Slovakia, which have a vision in mobility, is the ESA PECS program. Technical teams can gain knowledge under the auspices of ESA on various projects to diversify their approach to  more areas such as the automotive industry and the space industry, as well as we do.

Slovakia has ability design and develop specific mobility solutions. Production is also possible. An example is the concept of the MH2 car, which we know from the Slovak stand at Dubai Expo 2020.

Because of the tasks that Slovakia is waiting for in the near future from the field Intelligent Mobility, the association Smart Mobility Slovakia was established. The association is a platform for cooperation between private, academic, public sector and civil society entities that are involved in the domain of mobility or influence it with their activities. It understands mobility as a complex value chain connecting transport with industries and services targeted at the user, taking into account the social aspects, needs and requirements of people. M2M Solutions is one of the founding members of this association.
