Dubai Expo 2020: The best of the world and M2Ms in Space

Last year was a ground-breaking year for us. Our company celebrated the 10th anniversary, our portfolio was expanded with autonomous mobile robots and we flew into space thanks to the collaboration on the GRBAlpha project. Space is a very interesting topic for us and we have started to  search the ways how to diversify our portfolio into the space industry.

Thanks to our cooperation with the European Space Agency on project the Ground Station Scheduling Broker under the program called PECS, we, as one of the few Slovak companies, were part of the Dubai Expo 2020 exposition during the legendary Space week.   Here, we had the first-hand experience of the world's largest exhibition in  country that is one of the richest in the world and at theevent  that istruly at the world-class level.

After arriving at the exhibition grounds located basically in the desert, we were amazed not only by the size of the exhibition centre itself  but also by the possibility to rent  golf carts for faster transfers. For you to get the idea, Slovak pavilion was located about 2 km far from the nearest main entranceto the exhibition centre and was about a 15 minutes walk from the centre of the exhibition centre. As the exhibition was the world's largest  event during the pandemic, there were very strict controls everywhere and therefore visitors felt safe.

The entire exhibition centre was arranged inthe futuristic design. The Slovak pavilion was one of the most interactive and happened to be very popular during Dubai Expo 2020. The exhibition centre organized various cultural events including an interactive show with music, that was a mesmerizing element of every hot night.

As Dubai has a hot desert climate, exhibition area was open, airy and technologically sophisticated in a way that was the best of the bestest of what humanity has ever created.

Despite the initial technical problems that the organisers managed perfectly the Slovak pavilion was one of the first to open. We and other Slovak companies that are dedicated to the space theme  had the honour of attending the official opening of Space Week at Warhol Bistro, one of the top-rated restaurants at Expo 2020.

The delegation guided us through the lower part of the pavilion, with the permanent exhibition and hydrogen car that caught the biggest attention in the area. Among other things, visitors could have a try of a helicopter flight simulation, remote control a robotic car on a simulated lunar surface or enjoy the beauty of Slovak landscapes in an interactive relaxation room, where the exhibition was changing thematically.

Another part of the Slovak pavilion offered interactive presentations, including a presentation of our Ground Station Scheduling Broker project. The presentations were based on the principle of interactive control using hand motion detection. The exhibition was changing periodically according to thematic weeks of the entire exhibition, however, it was always possible to choose previous themes as well.

In addition to the exposition at the thematic Space Week, we presented the topic of diversification of our Warehouse Management system (WMS) with the title How we got from the automotive to the space industry to a professional audience. We took the participants through the whole process of the creation of relevant products that can be used in the space industry.

We are proud that our company belongs to the best what Slovakia can offer in the field of space industry in  the world. Thanks to this, we are also successfully cooperating with the European Space Agency. Our colleagues have the opportunity to work on world-class projects that takes their work beyond the planet.
